Tips on Buying to Sell on Poshmark
Hey guys! Sorry that I’ve been MIA for the past few days! Life has a way of being chaotic at times but I’m back now and ready to go. So for today’s post, I wanted to share some tips on how I buy to sell on Poshmark.
If you’ve followed me for a while now, you know that I am an active user on Poshmark. Basically, Poshmark is a place where you can sell designer goods for less from your “closet”. Little known fact is that most of the items listed in my closet are not actually mine. I would say that about 90% of the items listed in my Poshmark closet are items that I bought solely for resale.

Tips on Navigating Through a Thrift or Resale Store

Over the years, I developed a love for thrifting and resale. It is to the point where you will find me at every local thrift store at least twice a week. (FYI, the best times to go are Tuesdays and Wednesdays.) As a result, I have learned a thing or two about resale and I want to share some of those tips with you. While I am at the store, I make it a point to check out the shoes and accessories first. Why?? Accessories are where you make the most bang for your buck in resale. At my local Salvation Army, you can find a pair of designer shoes for under $5.99 and purses for under $9.99. In the past, I have bought shoes for $5.99 plus 50% off and resold them for $80. That’s a pretty solid profit if you ask me…

After looking at the accessories, I then head to the outerwear section. This is another area where you can make a really good profit if you know what you are looking for. My most successful outerwear pieces have included winter jackets, blazers, and trench coats. Once I finish looking through these sections, I then head over to the other areas.

 Brands to Look For

Over the past three years, I have learned what brands sell well for me. As a result, while I am out thrifting, I keep my eye out for certain names and designs. Here are some of my favorite brands to look for while I am thrift shopping:

Shoes- Vince Camuto, Tieks, Tory Burch, Burberry, Sorel, LAMB, Pour La Victore, and basically anything designer

Clothing- Equipment, Eileen Fisher, Elizabeth and James, Milly, Thakoon Addiction, Tory Burch, Vince, Rebecca Minkoff, Rebecca Taylor, BCBG Max Azria, and basically anything designer

One thing that I have noticed on Poshmark is that everyday mall brands typically do not sell well for me. As a result, I stopped buying these brands for my closet a long time ago. I feel that these brands may be better suited for places like Plato’s Closet than for online resale. Typically, medium to high designer brands sell well and allow for a solid profit if priced right.

Tips on Buying to Sell on PoshmarkIn conclusion, I hope that you guys found these tips helpful and remember that just because something worked for me doesn’t mean that it will work for everyone.
