Thanksgiving is coming up a few short weeks and I wanted to share an awesome recipe that I came across with you! The best part is that it doesn’t require any crazy ingredients; in fact, you probably have most, if not all of them in your pantry already! AND it only takes a little over an hour to make including cook time! Not only does it look amazing but it tastes amazing too!
What You Will Need:
For the Crust:
1 Pillsbury Refrigerated Pie Crust
1 Tablespoon Unsalted Butter, Melted
2 Tablespoons Ground Cinnamon
Egg Wash (1 Egg Beaton with 1 Tablespoon Water)
For the Pie:
7 to 8 Cups of 7 Peeled, Cored, and Thinly Sliced Small Granny Smith Apples
1 Stick Unsalted Butter, Room Temperature
1 Cup Gold Metal Unbleached All-Purpose Flour
1 Cup Light Brown Sugar
Granulated Sugar, for Sprinkling
For the Icing:
1/2 Cup Powdered Sugar
1/4 Teaspoon Vanilla
1/4 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
2 Teaspoons Milk
Steps:
1. Preheat oven to 400 Degrees F. Unroll the pie crust and brush with butter sprinkling cinnamon evenly throughout. Roll pie crust tightly and slice into 1/2 inch rounds so they look like mini cinnamon rolls.
2. Press down and lay each mini cinnamon roll around a 9-inch pice plate evenly, making sure that there are no spaces between the rolls. Brush the pie crust evenly with the egg wash.
3. Place the sliced apples in a mound on top of the crust. In a large bowl, combine butter, flour, and brown sugar and form into crumbles using your fingers/pastry blender. Sprinkle the crumbs over the apples and sprinkle granulated sugar evenly over the crumble.
4. Bake pie until the top and crust are a golden brown and the filling is bubbling (about 40-45 minutes). You also may need to cover the top/crust with foil if necessary to prevent it from getting too dark. Once it is cooked, remove it from the oven and allow for it to cool on a cooling rack.
5. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and milk to form a white icing. Use a pastry bag or ziploc bag with one tip cut off and pipe icing in a while on top of crumble for finishing touches.
