Have you ever had a Poshmark return? I have experienced a few over the years and initally, I would get upset over them. However, I learned from initial mistakes so that now everything works out in my favor. I know that it can be frustrating when people try to return things just because. However, there are times that as a buyer you made an honest mistake and someone has a legit reason to return the item. Today, I want to talk about Poshmark returns; specifically, how to avoid them and what to do if they do happen.
How To Avoid Poshmark Returns
1. Photograph EVERYTHING
And I mean everything!!! Whenever I list an item, I make sure to photograph the following: the item’s brand and size label (this is especially important on shoes), any and all flaws on the item (holes, pulls, stains, etc.), the sole of the shoe, a full length photo of the item, and the item’s fabric content tag. By doing this, I prevented returns from being sent back to me and having things work out in my favor as the seller. (Tips on photographing items HERE).
2. Make Sure Your Description is Thorough
Your item’s description is one of the most important part of the listing. In this section, you need to disclose any and all flaws on the item, its’ condition, whether it is new or used, measurements, etc. (More on listing an item HERE). I’m not going to lie, I’m not always the best with listing measurements in my description but it does help with having returns go in your favor. In short, make sure that you are honest and thorough with the buyer as that will help with returns in the long run.
Poshmark’s Return Policy
Poshmark does have an “all sales are final” return policy. But like I said before, mistakes happen and they will accept returns on a case-by-case basis. The buyer cannot return the item if it doesn’t fit, the buyer doesn’t like the item, or if the item was delivered later than expected. That is assuming that the item’s description was accurate and thorough. If there is a problem with the item, the buyer can report it to Poshmark within 3 business days. At that point, Poshmark will review the return and if accepted, will notify both the seller and buyer. The buyer will receive a new return label to send the item back to the seller.
What To Do If You Have Poshmark Returns
1. Be Professional and Live Up to Your Good Poshmark Status
This one is really, really important. Before, when you had a return, there wasn’t any way to communicate with the buyer. However, now, the buyer can write the seller a message and sometimes, people aren’t always the kindest. Personally, if I made a mistake, I will write back to the buyer in a kind and professional manner something along these lines:
“Hello, I do apologize for the mix up as it was my mistake and I would be more than happy to accept the return on this item. I am sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause. Thank you for your time.”
2. Learn from It
If the return could have been prevented by something on your end, make a mental note and learn from it. By learning from your mistakes, the same mistake won’t happen twice and the next time that the same situation arises, you will know exactly what to do.
