Fashion during the cold, winter months shifts from high fashion to high comfort. Living in New York, I see this occur the second that the weather changes. People complain that it is cold outside and the last thing that they want to do is walk through a blizzard dressed in their best. Although dressing for comfort has its benefits, straying away from fashion too far can put people at a disadvantage. How we dress is a reflection of who we are to the world and dressing too comfortably can send the wrong message. Before returning to New York, I was fortunate enough to spend a year living in Florida. With the cold weather approaching, I like to think back to my time in the sunshine state. Although schoolwork consumed most of my time, every Friday, I would go on a road trip and discover local hidden gems. One of my favorite trips was when I drove to Jacksonville to visit the Cummer Museum. Housing one of the finest art collections and landscaped with two beautiful 2.5-acre gardens, the Cummer Museum is definitely a hidden gem. (more…)
During my weekly shopping trip to the Salvation Army, I scored a beautiful Diane Von Furstenberg silk floral dress. After the initial excitement wore off, I realized that the silk was thinning in one area and that I was going to have to do a silk fix. Fortunately, I had some Heat ‘N Bond on hand and was able to fix the spot within a few minutes.
