In every reseller’s career, there comes a moment when you decide to run a sale in your Poshmark closet. Maybe you have too much inventory or maybe you have items that have been sitting for far to long; Regardless of the reason, know that you can run a Poshmark sale successfully. To run a successful Poshmark sale, know that it takes a little work and a lot of patience…. BUT if you stay consistent (and persistent), you can do it! Let’s get to it!
Step 1- Establish Your Motivation and Set Expectations
First things first, ‘why do you want to run a Poshmark sale?’ Take a moment and either mentally or physically jot down the answer to this question (as it is important). What is your motivation for running this sale?- Do you have old inventory that you are looking to get rid of? Are you shutting down you Poshmark closet and are looking to make your money back? Are your sales slow and are you looking to try to boost sales?
Whatever your motivation is for running the sale, remember that motivation as you set your expectations for your sale. And also, be realistic with those expectations. For example, let’s say that you are looking to run a 5 for $25 Poshmark sale and you want to sell all of your discounted items in a week without doing any work on the app. Well, I hate to be the person to tell you that you won’t be successful. Don’t get me wrong, you might, but it would be highly unlikely as success on the Poshmark app relies heavily on sharing and your involvement on the app. Instead, I would focus on having a heavy presence on the app AND social media to promote your sale in the most effective way possible.
Step 2- Take a Look At Your Inventory Report
Did you know that Poshmark offers an Inventory Report for free? This report loads as an Excel file and once opened, shows all of your Poshmark inventory based on when it was originally listed on the app. I opened mine yesterday, as I am running a sale this week, and I found items from 2017 on there! Say what??!! This tool is great for tracking the age of your inventory and can help you to decide which items should discounted to make room for new, recent items.
Step 3- Determine What Kind of Sale You Would Like to Have
What kind of sale are you looking to have? Let’s take a look at this for a moment. Are you looking to make your money back on some bad buys? In that case, it may be to your best interest to just lower the price on a few items in hopes of breaking even. What do I do if I have a LOT of items that haven’t sold and I want to get them out of my closet? In this situation, you may want to consider holding a larger scale sale like a bundle sale. An example of a bundle sale would be 5 items for $25 or 3 items for $30. This is a great way to sell a large volume on inventory in a short period of time. Whether you decide to hold a large sale or small sale, the most important thing to remember is to make your money back.
Step 4- Head On Over to Your Poshmark Closet and Create Your Sale
Finally, this is the last piece of the puzzle. Head on over to your Poshmark Closet and create your sale. The best way to do this is to mark the items for sale with either a symbol or special text. This will make it easier for buyers to identify the items that were for sale. Next, create a separate listing explaining your sale to your buyers. This separate listing should also be shared on all of your social media channels. This listing should be right at the top of your closet and then all sale items should immediately follow below. Finally, you just need to spread the news with others and remain as active on the app as you can!
