When it comes to building your wardrobe, “go-to” essentials are key. These pieces are the foundation for which your entire closet is build upon. Although essentials will vary from person to person, these items should complement your lifestyle, personality, and body shape. Most importantly, these items should allow you to be the best version of yourself.
Determining which pieces should be your go-to essentials can be difficult but here are a few questions to guide you in making your decision:
(1) Do I feel confident in it? – If an article of clothing does not make you feel confident, then it does not belong in your closet. Your closet should only house pieces that allow you to conquer the world, not hold you back.
(2) Is it versatile? – Essential pieces are versatile pieces. If an item is unable to form an outfit with 90% of your closet, then it is not an essential go-to piece. I strongly encourage people to spend a little more money on go-to essentials so it is important that these pieces are versatile.
(3) Does it complement my lifestyle? – Not everyone has a job or lifestyle that allows him or her to look stylish at all times. Regardless, your go-to essentials should be items that you can wear on a night on the town or going to the grocery store. No matter where you are or what you are doing these pieces will always be in style.
(4) Will it last? – Essential pieces form the foundation of your wardrobe so they need to be built to last. Quality is very important when it comes to buying these go-to items so pay close attention to material, style, and construction.
