In the fall of 2020, Eric and I moved from New York to Florida. With that move, the amount of space for all of my reselling stuff decreased significantly (and I mean significantly!). As a result, I had to figure out a whole new way to run my business. In order to accommodate for these drastic changes, I actually restructured my entire reselling business model. This new model changed how I stored items, shipped items, and sold items. Today, I thought that it would be helpful to share with you what my current method is for shipping my reseller items in 2021.
Packaging Sold Items
There are a few different steps that are involved when packaging sold items (and yes, I assemble packages on my kitchen counter!) :
#1- Print Shipping Labels for Poshmark, Tradesy, Mercari, and any other reselling apps that I sold items on
#2- Gather all of my shipping supplies (i.e. tape, business postcards, mailers, scissors, scale, tape measure, etc.) – More on that HERE!
#3- Pull all of my sold inventory from storage
Believe it or not, this process is extremely time consuming for me. To be safe, I like to set aside at least 30 minutes for this process. At this point in my reselling career, I am making multiple daily sales so packages add up quickly. As a result, I do not do daily shipping. Instead, I bring packages to the post office every other day.
My Shipping Process
My shipping process is pretty simple and straightforward. (If you would like to learn more about my previous shipping methods, visit THIS post!)
#1- First, I place the item in a mailer or box along with my business postcard and seal it with self-stick adhesive.
#2- Next, I will reinforce the self-stick adhesive seal with packaging tape to ensure that the mailer does not open during transit.
#3- Then, I attach the printable shipping label to the correct package. (Pro Tip: To make this process easier, I will look up my sales on Poshmark and write down the name of what item is for what label on the back. This saves on time when putting together a ton of packages at once.) Also, I print out my labels on computer paper and cover them completely with packaging tape to secure them to the mailer.
And that’s it! This my current shipping process for 2021! It is not very different than my past processes except that as time goes on, I have gotten much better at my methods! Let me know about your current reselling shipping processes below!
