A few weeks ago, I included my mini reseller trend notebook on my Instagram stories. This little notebook fits in the palm of my hand and comes with me whenever I go sourcing for inventory. Your probably thinking- What exactly does my mini reseller trend guide consistent of? Good question. I like to break mine up into 2 parts: (1) Retail and Runway trends and (2) Reseller trends. Let’s take a deeper look into it so I can help you to create your own!
Part 1: Retail and Runway Trends
The first section of my reseller trend guide consists of retail and runway trends. To obtain these trends, I visit popular, on-trend retail sites and look to see what is trending with buyers. Once that is complete, I google search runway trends and compile a list of the projected season’s fashion trends. I use this list to help narrow my search when looking for inventory.
Part 2: Reseller Trends (Specifically Poshmark)
The next section of my reseller trend guide consists of reseller trends, specifically to Poshmark, as it is my main selling platform. This section is probably THE MOST IMPORTANT part of the book. Let me walk you through step-by-step how to set this up:
First, you need compile a list of ALL of the common brands that you find while thrifting.
Next, you need to pick a brand to do further research on. Once you pick the brand, head on over to the Poshmark app. For this example, let’s use the brand, Madewell.
Once you are in the app, go to the Brands tab on the top of the screen and find the brand that you plan on doing further research on.
After you click on the brand and are on its’ page, click on the dropdown on the top right of the page and select Just In.
Then, go to the left column on the page and select the SOLD listings.
And there you have it! The items shown on this page are the items that were flipped very quickly (AKA the items that are MOST IN DEMAND.)
Scroll through the listings and make lists of trends that you are noticing for each brand. Once you are done with one brand, move onto the next one making lists for each brand on your list. This is something that I would do every month to ensure that you are up-to-date with the latest trends.
I hope that you found this post helpful!
