As many of you know, my previous Instagram account was deactivated just as I was about to hit 17,000 followers back in February. (More on that HERE). After months of appealing that decision and receiving no responses from Instagram in regards to it, the only option that I had was to sit back and wait it out. Well, this past week, I randomly decided to try to log into my Instagram account to find to my surprise, that Instagram had deleted my account out of the blue.
Instagram did not email me to advise that they would be deleting the account. Instead, they just shut it down. Keep-in-mind that I had numerous appeals pending at the time. My entire experience with Instagram throughout this process has been nothing but a nightmare. I have received extremely poor customer service from both Instagram and Facebook and I truly would not wish this upon anyone.
There is some good news in all of this though. Luckily, I was able to reclaim my original handle so anyone who used to follow me on my old account can now find me under the same name! The bad news, however, is that I lost 5+ years of hard work, pictures, and relationships that I had acquired over that time. Now, my focus is on starting over and rebuilding my social media presence back to what it was.
This time around, my entire perspective on social media has changed. There is a dark side to social media that many people just aren’t aware of. [I’m going to cover this more in a future post and also in an IGTV video in the coming weeks so please stay tuned!] I now know what I need to do as a business owner and creator on Instagram in order to decrease my chances of this happening again. My entire social media presence is now very intentional; everything that I do has purpose and I am implementing safeguards that will maximize my chances of being reactivated if the same were to happen in the future.
I don’t want to share too much right now (I’ll save that for another day) but I do want to say thank you to everyone who reached out to me in my absence. Your well wishes have been greatly appreciated! I am actually looking forward to rebuilding my platform this time around and I hope that you all will continue to support me in my reselling journey!
