This is my favorite time of year as a reseller! Many other resellers will say that they love Quarter 4 (September- December) but I love this time of year! Why? There are SO many events coming up and with COVID, this is a time of year that people are looking forward to. Some noteworthy events that are happening right now are baby and bridal showers, beach vacations, and warmer weather. As a result, I assembled a list for you of some of the top 10 items to source in Spring 2021 for resale. These are items that are trending amongst consumers right now and are items that I have sold quite a few of recently. Please use this to help to guide you while sourcing for Poshmark, Mercari, or any other reselling app that you sell your items on.
Before I get into this, I will be including pictures from my LiketoKnow.it (which you can access HERE) so that you have some visual examples of what items are currently trending in the retail market.
Formal Dresses
When it comes to finding items to source right now, the best category to source for is dresses. Dresses are not only a spring staple but they are needed for many formal occasions that typically happen this time of year. Some dress styles that I would focus on sourcing right now are formal, cocktail, and party dresses. These dresses are perfect for wedding guests, bridal and baby showers, and Easter celebrations. Ideally, try to find mini or midi dresses made of textures such as lace and satin.
White Dresses
One trending color in dresses this spring is white. These dresses can be casual or formal and can be made of materials such as cotton, polyester, and anything else that you can think of. People love to wear white dresses on vacation, to bridal showers, and while enjoying a beautiful spring day.
Sandals
When it comes to spring and summer shoes, sandals are the most popular choice of shoe. This season, the most popular shoes are slide-on strappy sandals and quilted/weave style sandals. Specifically, Bottega Veneta shoes are currently having a fashion moment so any shoe that resembles their signature shoe will do great in the resale market. Bathing Suits
Bathing suits this time of year are a MUST! If you have access to swimsuits for a great price, now is definitely the time to pick them up! Many people will be going on beach vacations or spending time in the pool and will be looking to update their bathing suit collection. Some trending styles to look out for are cute one-pieces and high-rise two piece suits.
Vacation/Travel Outfits and Gear
This is the time of year when people typically start traveling. With COVID, travel looks a little different than normal but you can be sure that people will find a way to travel. Stocking your closet/shop with travel-friendly outfits and travel accessories will be sure to get your buyer’s attention. I would consider sourcing weekender bags, casual leggings, and oversized tees and sweatshirts. If you can find any graphics that have any travel phrases, I would consider picking them up!
Floral Print Dresses and Skirts
I wanted to add this one in as I have noticed that I have noticed a huge increase in floral dresses that have sold recently. These dresses can be casual or formal and can include mini, midi, and maxi styles.
Activewear
Activewear has always been a trending category and that is going to continue into this spring. Some popular activewear styles that are popular right now are sports bras and high-rise leggings sets, casual hoodies, and fun printed oversized tees. Also, the more fun the print, the better!
Mom Jeans and High Rise Denim
High-Rise Denim has been trending in fashion for the past few years. This trend is going to continue into this spring/summer season as well. To be honest with you, I only will purchase high-rise denim styles for my Poshmark and Mercari accounts. I’ve noticed that it is a lot harder for me to sell any other rise of jeans. Sometimes, I have luck with mid-rise but most of the time, high-rise styles are the winners. Be sure to be on the lookout for high-rise pants and shorts!
Sunglasses
Sunglasses are a must-have for this time of year! People are always on the hunt for cute sunglasses. Some popular brands are Oakley, Ray-Ban, and Quay. Designer sunglasses are also popular this time of year. Popular sunglass styles are aviators, oversized, and cat-eye to name a few.
Sneakers
Last but certainly not least are sneakers. Sneakers will always be a great item to source year round. Nike and Adidas sneakers are extremely popular right now. Other brands to be on the lookout for are All Birds, Vans, and Golden Goose.
