This time of year is full of weddings and high school and college graduations. This past weekend, I was fortunate enough to attend my younger brothers’ college graduation from Vassar. Although it was hot and humid outside reaching temperatures close to 90 degrees, Vassar went above and beyond to create a stand-out ceremony.
While attending the events leading up to the ceremony and the ceremony itself, here are a few things I learned in the process:
1. Dress for the Weather
Prior to attending the ceremony yesterday, I continuously checked the weather forecast in order to determine what to wear for the day and how to prepare for the humidity. Sure enough, the weather said that it was going to be close to 90 degrees and very humid. With that in mind, I dipped my hair in humidity protectant products and wore a dress that was made of breathable fabrics. Despite dressing smart, I still sweat up a storm and wished that I had made a different wardrobe choice. My advice to you is to check the weather forecast beforehand and dress accordingly.
2. Be Respectful of Others Around You
While waiting for the ceremony to start, the temperature continued to rise and as a result people we busting out their umbrellas, fans, etc. I see no problem in trying to cool off from the heat but when it is obstructing the views of others, you have a problem. Especially when the weather is not ideal, please respectful of those around you and it will be a happy day for everyone.
3. Go Early
I hate waking up early but when it comes to attending special events, you have to in order to beat the crowd and get a good seat. Knowing that the weather was going to be uncooperative, my family decided to come 2 hours early in order to get what I would say were the best seats in the house- the top row of the bleachers. Although we ended up sitting in the brutal heat for hours, we had a great view of the ceremony and we were able to obnoxiously use umbrellas without blocking anyone’s view.
Be classy. Be confident. Be strong.

Bianca, love the dress! I just bought the black strap sandals you posted in your H&M blog earlier this week and used a memday30 code for all shoes at Target today. Score!
