Whether you are new to Poshmark or are a more established reseller, it is important to know the role that social media has on your reselling business. Based on what I have observed on social media so far this year, I feel confident in saying that 2019 is the year of the reseller. Compared to when I started on Poshmark 5+ years ago, there has been a large influx of resellers within the community. I am constantly seeing new resellers on my Instagram account which is very exciting for our small little community. However, whenever I look at some of these social media accounts, I cannot help but think that people don’t fully understand how important these accounts are for their reselling business. Today, I wanted to provide a few tips on how to promote your Poshmark closet on social media to maximize sales.
Try Not to Replicate Your Poshmark Closet on Social Media
This is probably one of the most common things that I see on social media accounts, especially for newer resellers. Basically, people will replicate their Poshmark closets on social media, even using the same photos and format. Although there is absolutely wrong with this approach, it can cause people overlook your account because they might feel as though they are just looking at another Poshmark closet. I would try to avoid this approach if possible and try to build a personal relationship with your customer base (see next tip)…
Develop a Personal Relationship with Your Followers
One of the biggest pieces of advice that I can give is to build a relationship with your followers. Give your followers the opportunity to get to know you and try to get to know a little bit about them. This is one of the biggest social media mistakes that I made early on and I want to help you to avoid making the same mistake. It’s one thing to post a picture trying to make a sale. It’s another thing posting an exciting picture (with the item that you are looking to sell in it) that captures people’s attention and draws people in.
Let’s look at one of my posts below:
This post was from a few days ago but it does a great job in showing how you can be genuine and still connect with the community. Personally, I love to give my followers a glimpse into my life and what it is truly like to be someone who is a reseller. This photo was from one of my thrift trips when I decided to carry way more items that I could fit into my hands around the store. Although this isn’t really that big of deal, I thought to myself- why not see if my other reseller friends have the same problem. Sure enough, I posted it and turns out that a TON of my followers could relate to it. The biggest tip with this is to post genuine content that adds to the community.
Try Not to Bring Any Negative Vibes
I don’t know why this is but sometimes the reselling community can be a bit dramatic for absolutely no reason. Whenever possible, please try to send out as many positive vibes as you can. Everyone has their ups and downs in life but please try to be more positive than negative when you can. Let’s be real, no one likes a Debbie downer!
Be Classy, Be Confident, Be Strong
