Reseller Burnout is something that all resellers experience at some point during their reselling career. If you ever reach that point, you know that it can be harmful to you physically, emotionally, and /or mentally. Today, I thought that I would share with you a few ways that you can prevent it from happening to you.
Why does it happen?
Reseller Burnout happens when you have an unequal balance between your reselling activities and all of the other activities in your daily life. As a result, you feel overwhelmed, overworked, and unmotivated. This happens to everyone at some point in their reselling careers and is totally normal, especially amongst newer resellers who are trying to figure everything out. But the good news is that with a few simple tweaks, you can minimize the effects that it has on you and your business.
What should I do if I experience reseller burnout?
First and foremost, you should stop all of your reselling activities temporarily. I would suggest turning off your phone, logging out of ALL your reselling apps, and stop all reselling-related social media activities. Instead, I would focus on completing activities that have absolutely nothing to do with reselling. Personally, I like to take a long walk/exercise, do some housework, or practice yoga. By doing an activity completed unrelated to reselling, you are giving your body and mind the opportunity to reset. In this time, I would also suggest reflecting on your work-life balance and analyze your personal day-to-day activities for opportunities of improvement. Personally, I believe that taking breaks throughout the day is extremely important. Even if it is just for 5 or 10 minutes, taking a break gives your mind the chance to relax from a tedious task such as reselling. It allows you to be refreshed so you can continue to work without feeling overwhelmed.
Tips on Avoiding Reseller Burnout:
1. Be Intentional with Your Time
Not everyone can dedicate large amounts of time to their businesses 100% of the time. In order to minimize burnout, try to have a game-plan, set goals, and be intentional with your time. After your allotted time has passed, give yourself permission to complete another task that may or may not be reseller related.
2. Take Consistent Breaks Throughout the Day
I’m extremely guilty of not taking breaks throughout the day. Some days, I am totally fine not taking a break and other days, I need to take a break or else I get overwhelmed. If you can, try to get into the habit of taking regular breaks throughout the day as it will give your body time to relax and refresh for future tasks.
3. Know Your Limits
We all have personal limits when it comes to how productive we can be in a single day. Knowing your personal limits helps you know how you need to structure your day to maximize productivity while also having a work-life balance.
