I hope that you guys had a wonderful weekend! My weekend consisted of staying in pajamas all day and relaxing at home binge watching tv shows. For today’s post, I wanted to share with you some tips on how to look your best in photos.
As an up-and-coming fashion blogger, my inbox is constantly filled with opportunities to collaborate with companies, agencies, and fashionistas such as myself. I am so grateful for these opportunities because they push me to continue working towards my goals. Being a fashion blogger is not easy work but if you work hard and persevere, it has its rewards.
As a fashion blogger, I am always in front of a camera. When I initially started blogging, I had no idea what I was doing. Before I would go to bed, I would scroll through pictures of other bloggers and fashion models on Pinterest for inspiration. After looking through the photos, I experimented with different poses to see what worked best for me. Believe it or not, there is a science to looking good in photos. Here are a few tips to help you look your best:
1. Know Your Flaws
Unfortunately, not all of us have symmetrical features. In fact, most of us have asymmetries that we aren’t even aware of. If you don’t know what your asymmetries are, look at yourself in a mirror and study your features. This probably sounds a little creepy but trust me, you will see things you didn’t even know were there. If and when you start to notice things, please don’t freak out! Remember, it is in our imperfections that we find true beauty.
2. Find Your Angles
After you discover your imperfections, you probably want to figure out ways to correct them. One of the easiest ways to trick the camera into thinking that you are “perfect” is to figure out what your angles are. When I am in front of the camera, I know which angles work for me and which ones don’t. My go-to pose when taking a fashion photo is to look over my shoulder and then up or down. The way that the sun hits my face as a result, creates a highlight that accentuates my features. Play around with angles while taking photos to see what works best for you.
3. Develop a Signature Pose
I believe that every classy, confident, and strong woman should have a signature pose. It should be a pose that accentuates your best features, hides your imperfections, and makes you feel unstoppable. This is something that does take time to develop but once you have it down, you will never have a bad photo again. Can you guess what my signature pose is?
