Today, I thought that it would be fun to take you into one of my favorite Goodwill stores and share with you some of my thrift finds. As I am sure that you know, thrifting is definitely a game of hit-or-miss so you just never know if you will find a great find or not. For this post, I will actually be sharing with you some items that I found while shopping at my local Goodwill yesterday, August 17th. Some of these items were left behind while others were purchased and will be available in my Poshmark closet in the next few days (linked below). I hope that you enjoy this post and happy thrifting!
Stop #1: Shoes and Purses
Whenever I visit a thrift store, I ALWAYS stop and check out the shoes and purses first. These items typically have the biggest profit margins for me. Luckily for me, this store in particular has their shoes and purses in view immediately upon entering the store. And I don’t know about you but there always seems to be some competition in the shoe and purse sections so I try to get in and out as quickly as I can.
Find #1: Sketchers Synthetic Moon Keepers in Angel Kiss (These are dupes for a pair by Emilio Pucci! Check out the designer version HERE). These will be available for sale in my Poshmark closet.
Find #2: Louise et Cie Chaucer Sandals – I thought that these shoes would be a great transition piece from summer to fall, especially for those who live in warmer climates. Additionally, I am continuing to sell sandals throughout the month of August and thought that they would be a great piece to add to my Poshmark closet.
Find #3: Sam Edelman Port Wine Monica Bag- I thought that this Sam Edelman bag would be perfect for fall! I absolutely love the rich wine red color of the bag and am obsessed with the braided handle. It is made of genuine suede accents and will be a great addition to my Poshmark closet!
Stop #2: Outerwear and Sweaters
The next areas of the thrift store that I will frequent are the seasonal areas. In my case, that would be outerwear and sweaters. Living in Florida, it is extremely difficult for me to find outerwear and sweaters throughout the year. Therefore, I need to take advantage of shopping these sections off-season in hopes that I can stock up before the fall and winter months.
Find #4: Vintage Faux Fur Coat– This is not something that I would normally pick up but after looking up comps and doing some research, I decided to take a chance and pick up this coat. It was marked up (compared to what I would normally pay for a coat- under $10) but seemed like it would sell well. This piece will also be added to my Poshmark closet.
Find #5: Prana Knit Sweater- A few years ago, I would have been SO excited to find a Prana sweater. However, nowadays, I am extremely cautious when I find one. This brand typically doesn’t sell well for me and as a result, I decided to pass on it.
Find #6: LL Bean Pullover- This is another item that I loved but decided to pass on. From my experience, this style sells really well, especially in the Patagonia version. However, it was actually the sizing the deterred me from this purchase. This was a size Small Petite and based on my experience, that size typically takes forever to sell and it didn’t seem worth it to me.
Find #7: Gap Leopard Sweater– I really liked the style and design of this Gap sweater. It was made of a merino wool blend and was in really good overall condition. I did, however, decide to pass on it as it did have a few snags and was slightly dated.
Stop #3: Pants
My next stop while thrifting typically includes jeans and pants. Denim is very popular this time of year and I love to stock up while people are not actively looking for it. If you are able to find some great denim for a good price, you can typically make some pretty solid profit margins.
Find #8: Zara High Waisted Denim Jeans– I was very excited to find these new with tag Zara denim jeans. They are great style for fall and are a great size for reselling (size 10!). These jeans were not marked up (which was amazing) and will make a great addition to my Poshmark closet.
Find #9: Oscar de la Renta Vintage Jeans- These are not an item that I would typically pick up but with the emergence of the Y2K trend and vintage throwbacks, I thought these would be a fun piece to try out. They are the epitome of 80/90’s mom jeans and I know that someone out there will find them as fun as I do! I did pick them up and they will be available in my Poshmark closet.
Find #10: GapFit Athletic Leggings- I am always looking for activewear whenever I go thrifting! On this trip, I found these GapFit leggings from this past summer 2021 collection and thought that these would be a great edition to my Poshmark closet. (I’ve learned over the years that the best activewear pieces to pick up are sets and recent pieces).
Last Stop: Pajamas and Intimates
This might seem like a weird stop on my thrift trip but there are can be some hidden gems in the PJ and intimates sections. Over the past few years, I have found some great Lululemon sports bras and SKIMS pieces in these sections. Be sure to check them out because there are some great hidden profits to be made in these sections.
Find #11: Vintage Victoria’s Secret PJ’s- Something that many resellers don’t know is how well vintage Victoria’s Secret PJ’s and intimates sell. Personally, I didn’t know until another reseller informed me of its’ value. If you ever find a pink Victoria’s Secret tag on either PJ’s or intimates in good condition, be sure to pick it up! Unfortunately, I did have to past on these PJ’s as the bottoms had a damaged seam.
Find #12: Disney PJ’s (NWT)– These are some really cute NWT Disney PJ’s! The main reason why I picked these up is that they are a size XL and that size sells extremely well in Disney. If you ever find any unique Disney merchandise in a size XL or XXL, don’t hesitate to buy it as it will sell (based on my own experience and knowledge of Disney merchandise). These PJ’s will be available in my Poshmark closet.
