Over the past few months, Eric and I have been updating many rooms in our home in order to customize them to our unique design style. One of the rooms in our home that I have wanted to update since we moved in last October was our laundry room. I spend a LOT of time in here for both personal and business use so I wanted to make this room to be a place that I actually enjoyed being in. A few weeks ago, I decided that it was time to update the room and so we worked hard and had it completed just in time for my birthday. Today, I wanted to share with you how I updated our builder grade laundry room for under $400.
First, I want to share with you what our builder grade laundry room looked like when we moved in:
The standard laundry room decor that came with our home was a white wire shelf (that was way too tall for me to reach without a step stool) above a washer/ dryer surrounded in Sherwin Williams Agreeable Grey painted walls. As much as I didn’t mind this set-up initially, it lacked personality and felt kind-of sterile.
After finding some inspiration on Pinterest and researching supplies, I decided the week before my birthday that it was time to update this drab room into something fun and unique. In order to update this room, I first needed to repaint all of the walls; I painted the accent wall using Sherwin Williams Iron Ore in a Matte Finish and the remaining walls using Sherwin Williams Snowbound in a Matte Finish. This paint was left over from another project so it was no additional cost.
Next, we added all of the shelving, accent pieces, and added a new light. Many of these pieces I bought from Amazon, IKEA, Target, and Hobby Lobby. I will add the name and links of all of the items that I used below. But first, let me share with you some additional pictures of our finished space:
