Within the reselling community, re-listing items is a topic that is commonly discussed in regards to the Poshmark app. Most of the messaging states that it is a highly positive action that resellers should take in order to be successful on the app. BUT…is this action really helping you on the app as much as you think it is? Personally, I wasn’t completely sold on it myself. Today, I wanted to share with you what I learned about re-listing items on the app and how it is directly related to the “Just In” feature and your item’s exposure within the app.
The Poshmark “Just In” Function
Whenever I hear anyone talk about Poshmark’s “Just In” feature, it is almost always in regards to re-listing items on the app.
Did you know… items that are re-listed on Poshmark using the “Copy” feature will only be re-added to the “Just In” filter if the item is over 60 days old? Any items that are less than 60 days old and are re-listed using the “Copy” feature, will not appear in the “Just In” filter.
So what is the purpose of the “Just In” feature?
The “Just In” feature is actually a filter that sorts items on Poshmark from newest to oldest from when they were added to the app. And because this is a filter, items never leave it (unless you remove the listing completely or try to re-list an item that is less than 60 days old using the copy feature).
If you are wondering how I know this, visit my Instagram HERE.
BUT…what about if the another item is listed that has the same specifications as your item?
It doesn’t matter! The item will still remain under the “Just In” filter. Adding the exact same item will not remove it from the list. I know this because I tested it out with a Free People dress from my Poshmark closet. I added all of the appropriate filters and searched for my exact dress within the brand using the “Just In” filter…and it appeared!
Check out THIS Instagram post to see exactly what I did to figure that out!
How Does This Impact Resellers?
Out of all of the filters on Poshmark, re-listing seems to be most directly related to the “Just In” filter. Since “Just In” is a filter that categorizes items from newest to oldest on the app, it makes sense that re-listing items would be directly related to it. Which then leads us to the question….
Is it REALLY worth it to re-list your items on Poshmark?
The answer to this question is going to depend on what is important to you as a reseller.
If you care about the “Just In” filter…
It may benefit you in the short-term. Remember: The only way that people are going to see the “Just In” listings is if they are specifically searching for an item using the “Just In” filter OR happen to see “Just In” items for a brand on their feed. Also, the only way that your items will keep appearing at the top of the “Just In” feed is if you are constantly re-listing them (which makes sense given the function of the filter).
If you care about items appearing at the top of a general search…
Other than the initial re-listing of the item (since it is new), re-listing isn’t actually going to help you here. Items appear at the top of a search feed based on when it was last shared. The more recently that an item was shared, the closer to the top of the search results it will appear. This is true to both the Poshmark app and Google.
Final Thoughts
There are two messages to takeaway from this:
* Re-listing does have some short-term benefits such as quick sales after re-listing
* Sharing items consistently is more beneficial to overall sales success
What do I do with this information now?
Perhaps, take a moment and evaluate your Poshmark closet to come up with a re-listing strategy moving forward. If you have a smaller closet, re-listing and sharing all of your items constantly may be to your benefit (but keep in mind the 60 day rule with Poshmark’s copy feature). If you have a larger closet, perhaps it makes more sense to share your items constantly and re-list a few of your older items daily. Or perhaps, you don’t want to re-list your items at all, which is fine too!
Honestly, there is no right or wrong answer when it comes to re-listing your items. Do what makes the most sense for you and your business.
