Welcome to a new thrift year! I hope that you all had a great holiday season and are getting ready for the new year ahead! 2019 was a great year for me as a reseller and I am hoping that 2020 will be even better. Moving ahead into the new thrift year, I decided to make some business changes that will benefit me not only this year but the coming years ahead. Today, I want to share some of my thrift/reselling goals for 2020 along with some ways that you can plan for a great new year!
Goal #1: Grow My Inventory
As of right now, my Poshmark closet has between 600-700 listings. Some of you may think that that is a high number but in order to sustain a business over the long term, it is no where near where I would like to be. In order to increase that number, I have been working with an amazing company (which I will share more details on in the weeks ahead) who specializes in liquidations from some of the most in-demand stores. Through them, I am able to order a large quantity of inventory for a great price. I will be continuing to thrift but I wanted to ensure a steady inventory supply as thrift hauls vary from week to week.
Goal #2: Become a “Full-Time” Reseller
Most people don’t know that I am not a “full- time” reseller. I actually have a full-time job during the day and then work full-time reseller hours at night. Later on this year, I plan on dedicating more time to reselling as it is something that I am extremely passionate about and would like to pursue moving forward.
Goal #3: Redo My Inventory System
I actually started working on this a few weeks ago but as I am increasing my inventory dramatically this year, I need to revamp my inventory system. I already bought all new bins and bags to store inventory in and in the next few weeks, I will be creating a better system for finding inventory. Once I have everything finalized, I will share it with you all!
Goal #4: Properly Track ALL Expenses
I have been really good about tracking everything in the past but this year, I want to have a system in place to make it as easy as humanly possible. I have different apps on my phone tracking different features such as gas, mileage, thrift hauls, etc. The more items that are tracked, the easier that it will be to do taxes at the end of the year.
Goal #5: Sell On Another Reselling Platform
Since the very beginning of my reselling days, I have only ever sold on the Poshmark app. This year, I plan on expanding to other apps. So far this year, I have created an account on Mercari and I am excited to see how it goes. I am also planning on sending in more items to ThredUp’s Luxe program. I’ll keep you all updated on my reselling adventures- don’t worry!
But here is a sneak peek into what 2020 holds for me as a reseller. I hope that this helps to motivate you in the months ahead and I hope that 2020 is a great reselling year for us all!
