Here is another post from my “Selling on Poshmark” series. Today, I really wanted to discuss selling athletic wear on Poshmark. Honestly, I don’t sell a whole lot of athletic wear on Poshmark. However, I wanted to share a little bit about what I have learned about selling it over the past year. I hope that you find this post helpful and I can’t wait to share this information with you!
Q: Why should I be selling athletic wear on Poshmark?
A: So athletic wear is not something that I heavily invest in for Poshmark. Over the past year, I have managed to sell everything that I have listed on the site. Athletic wear or “athleisure wear” as it is also called, is really big right now so it definitely will sell on the app. Depending on what the item is, it may or may not be a quick flip for me. Athletic wear is not something that I love selling on the app. However, when I do list it, some pieces sell better than others and people are definitely loyal to their brands.
Q: What style athletic wear should I sell?
A: I typically try to stick to leggings and pants, but I like to sell sweatshirts and long sleeve tops as well.
Q: How much should I invest in a piece of athletic wear to sell?
A: This answer is going to vary from person to person but typically I don’t spend more than $5-$10 per piece. Typically, I will only spend more than that on a piece of athletic wear if there is the potential for very large profit margins. These items are usually in high demand yet discontinued. This is where knowing your athletic wear brands and knowing what sells best for you comes in handy.
Q: What is the average cost per item?/ What is the average sale per item?
A: My average cost per item is $5 and my average sale per item is $35.
Q: What brands should I sell?
A: My favorite brands to sell are Lululemon and Athleta.
Q: Do athletic wear make up the majority of your Poshmark closet?
A: If we are being honest here, I would say that athletic wear makes up maybe 5% of my inventory. It is not a category that I invest heavily in.
Q: What is your average turnover rate on athletic wear?
A: This depends on the brand of the item but on average, athletic wear typically take 15 days or less to sell for me.
Q: Where do you go to shop for shoes to sell on Poshmark?
A: I find my inventory at various thrift stores, Plato’s Closet, and Clothes Mentor.
Outfit Details – Hoodie: Zara (Similar); Shoes: Zara (Similar, Similar); Leggings: Olympia Activewear (Exact); Backpack: Calia by Carrie Underwood (Discontinued but available in my Poshmark closet HERE or find a similar style HERE)
