Patagonia is a brand that has definitely made a name for itself over the past few years. When I was in NYC a few weeks ago, I noticed that everyone was wearing it, in addition to Moncler and Canada Goose, of course. My brother even made a point to take me into a Patagonia store while I was there and I was surprised at how packed the store was. For those of you not familiar with the brand, Patagonia is an outdoor clothing and gear store that has recently made a resurgence. Currently, their popular fleece pullovers are sought after by both avid outdoorsmen and fashionistas like. Today, I wanted to share with you my take on Patagonia as a reseller and share some of what I have learned by selling this sought-after brand.
1. The Age of The Item Doesn’t Really Matter
One observation that I have made when it comes to selling Patagonia pieces is that it doesn’t really matter the age of the item. Whether it be a vintage Patagonia piece or a more recent one, it will sell and generally for the same price. Obviously, make sure that the item is in good condition prior to reselling it, but age does not play a huge factor in selling Patagonia pieces.
2. If It Visibly Says “Patagonia” On It, Then You Are Golden
And what do I mean by that?? If the item has a visible Patagonia patch on the front of it or visibly reads “Patagonia” anywhere on it, then you are golden. Why?? Because at the end of the day, consumers really only care about brands and if the brand is visible for other people, then it will sell. People want to flaunt what they have after all.
3. Tips on Authenticating Patagonia Pieces
Below are pictures that I want to share with you from a recent Patagonia find. When authenticating these pieces, be sure to pay attention to stitching and labels, as this is where counterfeit pieces can be easily detected as they lack attention to detail.
