This post is probably one of the most fun posts that I have ever written… And you are probably wondering why, right?! Good question. While I was getting this post together, I went on a little trip down Poshmark memory lane and I found my very first Poshmark listing ever. It’s crazy how far I’ve come since then, especially with my listing and photography skills. For today’s post, I wanted to take you all the way back to the beginning of my Poshmark journey and share how my cover photos have evolved over the years.
So Let’s Start at the Very Beginning…
I joined Poshmark on May 26, 2013 when I was a junior in college. At that time, everyone that I knew was obsessed with Coach items (minus me- of course). People would constantly gift it to me at every opportunity that they could and it didn’t help that there was a Coach outlet nearby. Everything that I was gifted, sat unused and unloved and I decided that I wanted to bring it to a new home. Poshmark was VERY new at the time and after a few days of debating whether or not to sign up for the app, I decided to give it a go. (Gosh, I remember it like it was yesterday… How time flies!) I listed a Coach floral key pouch that was brand new and it sold the same day for $12. After that item sold quickly, I wanted to try to sell other items that were just sitting in my closet unused. I eventually listed a few more Coach items that sold rather quickly and got to thinking about how I could potentially flip items for cash.
There was a Goodwill near my college campus and every week or so, I would stop in and see if there were any items that I could sell. I had luck a few times but reselling was more for fun then anything else. After I graduated and moved to Florida, my reselling journey continued and evolved into what it is now.
As I’ve gotten more familiar with the app and my customers, I have made many adjustments to my business accordingly. The biggest change that I have made has been in relation to my cover photos. These photos are probably the most important pictures that you will take. I’ve learned over the years that perfecting these photos should be your #1 priority for selling items. (Obviously there is more to it than that, but this is probably in the top 3 most important things to focus on.)
