Today is Day # 3 of complete shutdown and it has not been easy to say the least. Many schools, businesses, and buildings have shut down and I have not had the ability to step into a thrift store for about a week now (which is really hard for me btw). I’ve gotten really creative with finding ways to source online and I am working on clearing out the little new inventory that I have left. Today, I wanted to share my viewpoint on how the coronavirus could affect the reselling world and how I am keeping my business afloat amongst the uncertainty of it all.
How is the Coronavirus Outbreak Going to Affect Resellers?
Most consumers fit one of two scenarios:
(1) Consumer 1- Maintains their full pay as they are able to work from home and their shopping habits remained unfazed. If anything, these consumers are bored sitting at home and shop online to pass the time.
(2) Consumer 2- Remains without pay during this time and will not be spending excess money as funds are limited.
Keeping this in mind, your sales may remain steady or they may slow down. There is no way to know for sure how this will affect you. Personally, my sales have continued to remain pretty consistent but we’ll see what happens in the coming weeks. During this time of uncertainty, I have made it a priority to remain consistent when it comes to all of my social media and selling platforms and keep business running per usual.
I would encourage you to take this time to photograph and list your death pile or focus on other activities that you normally don’t have time to do like maybe reading a new book or listening to a podcast that you have always wanted to listen to. If you are unable to go to your thrift store, try sourcing your inventory online. This is a great time to get create, try new things, and step outside of your comfort zone.
