Many people may not know this but I do not have a background in business, marketing or anything business-related. I actually have my bachelors in psychology with a minor in biology. When I was in college, my plan was to go into a career in the medical-field as that was something that I had an interest in at the time. I was accepted into a physical therapy school in Florida and attended classes there for a year or so. During that time, I was still selling on Poshmark but it was more of a hobby that I did on the side to help to pay for some of my bills. It wasn’t long after my first year of physical therapy school that it became clear that it was not for me and I ended up leaving the program. When I came back home, I started this blog and worked various jobs in order to pay off the student debt that I acquired from my year in physical therapy school. My student debt was eventually paid off and as time went on, it become very clear that I need to pursue my passion as a career. Keeping all of that in mind, let’s now fast-forward to the present…
As a someone who is looking to pursue a career as a full-time reseller in the near future and doesn’t have a formal business education, I knew that I needed to learn the business world on my own. Don’t get me wrong, I have learned a plethora of knowledge from working at various retailers and by selling on Poshmark for many years, but I knew that it wasn’t going to cut it for me. So I decided to teach myself the basics through online business and marketing classes.
Currently, I am enrolled in business classes through the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. And to make it even sweeter, all of the classes that I am taking are 100% FREE and don’t require prerequisites whatsoever!!! If this is something that is of interest to you, head on over to Coursera. To enroll in a class, all you have to do is sign-up for the website and then find a class that interests you. The availability of each class does vary.
Another great feature of the site is if you are looking to gain a certification in a specific topic, you can do so for a small fee (most are under $100). In order to gain a certification, you would need to take 4-6 classes in a specific area and pass all of the quizzes/exams associated with it.
If are interested in enrolling in one of Coursera’s paid courses, use my link HERE to save 50% on your first class!
Remember: It is never to late to keep learning and it will help you to become a better entrepreneur (at least in my opinion).
