Earlier this week, I revealed my new and improved reselling storage unit! (If you missed it, be sure to check out THIS post and THIS post!) I appreciate all of your kind words regarding the unit and I hope that I was able to provide you with some storage unit inspiration! Today, I thought that I would share with you my updated inventory system. This new system resulted from the purchase of my new unit and helps to make my daily reselling activities much easier.
Prepping My Items
One of the biggest changes that came from the use of the storage unit is that now I provide measurements on all of my listings. This is something that I didn’t do previously as the items were readily available to me and I could do it upon request. With my new system, I have to take measurements prior to placing my items in storage. In order to do this, I write everything down in my notebook after cleaning and photographing each item. This includes the item’s name, how much I paid for the item, and all of the potential measurements that a buyer could ask for.
Storing My Items
After each item has been logged in the notebook and photographed, I will then store my items in plastic bags. Although I don’t love using plastic bags to store my items, it is the best option for me right now and I do reuse them. There are 2 different bags that I use to store items; I use clear storage bags for lightweight clothing while I use thicker shoe bags for shoes and bulkier clothing items. Honestly, I have found them both to be a great value for the money.

Location Organization
After all of the items have been placed into bags, I will then place them into the bins. In my notebook, I will then create lists and identify which items are placed into what bins. A bin number code is then recorded and after I make a sale, I will reference it so I can package and ship the item. Although it can be a pain to find some of the items in the bins, it is a much more efficient process than the system that I had in place previously.
