Summer is FINALLY here and I can’t help but want to dress in fun, vibrant colors. Being Italian-American, I have a rich olive skin tone that really pops during the summer months when I wear certain colors. Colors that really make my skin pop are pastels, neutrals, and vibrant shades; basically anything but black and grey. As you may have noticed, my wardrobe revolves around these neutrals but I always add a pop of color. It gives an outfit the “it” factor I suppose. Feeling inspired by the sunshine, I decided to wear the opposite of what I usually wear. This look involves pairing a monochromatic outfit with neutral shoes which is something that I rarely ever do.
Wearing monochromatic colors can be tricky at times. I LOVE black everything and I tend to wear quite a bit of it. However, when I wear it head-to-toe, I feel as though it can be a little too much sometimes. It’s one of those colors that I needs to be broken up when worn in order to lessen its’ harshness. Sometimes, the best way to lessen a color’s harshness is to mix and match its’ monochromatic matches. For this look, I paired a light orange top with a melon orange skirt and topped it off with my favorite new black, studded sandals. By pairing these colors together, I created an outfit with visual interest which keeps the outfit from being boring.
