People love to ask me, “What are some items that every reseller should own?” Personally, I love to answer this question! There are definitely some pieces that I believe that every reseller should own to make his or her life easier. Today, I thought that I would put together a list of some of my personal favorite reselling products. These are products that I either own personally or have a similar version of. Let me share my top picks with you!
Items That Every Reseller Should Own:
Item #1: Mailers – Every reseller should own some mailers! Mailers making shipping so easy and fun designs will excite your buyer when they receive the item. I purchase the mailers that I use off of Amazon and they are custom to my business needs. Within the resale community, there is a growing trend where many sellers are sending out items in sustainable bags. Personally, I think that this is a great alternative to plastic bags!
Item #2: Scissors – These are a MUST HAVE!! If you don’t own a label printer, then you will surely be cutting out your labels. Having a cute pair of scissors to do it with, makes it not so boring!
Item #3: Packaging Tape – This is another MUST HAVE!! Whether you are packaging boxes or sealing mailers, you will definitely need to own some packaging tape. To save on money, I would suggest buying it in large quantities if you can!
Item #4: Tape Measure – A tape measure is such a great tool to have especially when packaging items on a platform where you are responsible for shipping costs. Personally, I use a tape measure on Mercari when I need to measure a box’s dimensions.
Item #5: Thank You Notes/Stickers – When it comes to adding a “thank you” to a package, I would suggest adding either a sticker or note to your order. Bulk stickers are a great option as they come in large quantities and are pretty inexpensive.
Item #6: File Folder – I would strongly suggest investing in a filing system! A file folder is a great option as you can easily hold receipts, price tags, and another paperwork that is important to your business.
Also, Don’t Forget….
Item #7: A Large Bag – Taking packages out can be a struggle, especially if you have a TON of them! To make this task easier, I would suggest investing in a few large reusable bags. I personally love using IKEA and TJ Maxx bags but I have heard so many people say amazing things about Hulken bags!
Items #8 & #9: A Planner and Cute Writing Instruments – I don’t know about you but I become so much more motivated to work when I have a cute planner and writing instruments! When planning out my day, I actually have 2 notebooks: one for my reselling platforms and another one for my blog and social media accounts. It helps me to keep everything better organized.
Item #10: Food Scale – This is another great tool to have for shipping! Whenever I send out orders myself, I like to use an 11 lb food scale to weight my items to determine shipping costs.
Finally…
Item #11: A Storage System – This is probably the MOST IMPORTANT item on this list (in my opinion). I personally believe that your storage system will make or break your business. Why? Because this is how all of your inventory is preserved. Without an effective and well thought out storage system, your items could be damaged or lost. I am extremely limited on space and am selling over 700+ items at the moment. The only way that I am able to store that multitude of inventory in such a space space, is through the use of SpaceSaver bags. I strongly recommend them if you are tight on space like myself!
