Happy Monday! I hope that you guys had a wonderful weekend! This week is going to be a crazy one for me; It is the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. How exciting! So today, I thought that I would share with you guys my favorite thrifted look of the week! Also, I wanted to talk about incorporating thrifted looks into your wardrobe.
Okay, so my wardrobe consists of 70% thrifted pieces and 30% retail pieces. Most of these pieces are either from high end designers or brands like Zara and H&M. Over the years, my style has evolved into something that is unique to me. I guess that I’m one of those girls who likes what she likes, I suppose. On that note, let’s talk about today’s look!
Today’s look is ultimate blend of thrift and retail pieces. First, let’s talk about this fun bird top from Zara. I picked up this top at my local Thrifty Shopper within the last few weeks for only $4.99. When I stopped in on that day, it appeared as though someone donated their entire Zara collection to the store. Fortunately for me, I was the lucky recipient of over 10 Zara pieces. I did keep some but the majority of these pieces will be resold on Poshmark. When I first saw this shirt, I knew that it would be the perfect piece to add to my wardrobe but I didn’t know what to pair it with.
Now, let’s fast forward to a few days later when I went shopping at Marshall’s. While looking through the junior section, I spotted these cute gingham shorts on the front rack. Initially, I was a little nervous about the length of these shorts but after trying them on, they fit perfectly! I immediately knew that they would look great with the Zara top that I purchased from Thrifty Shopper earlier that week.
To finish off the look, I spotted these NWT Zara sneakers at my local Plato’s Closet on their Instagram page. After recruiting a few of the girls there to help me find these shoes, we found them hidden away in the back for only $18! They just screamed “Bianca” so obviously I needed to buy them and I am so glad that I did!
So when we add everything up (minus the Kate Spade bag), today’s outfit total is $37.98!
Here are few questions to ask yourself when incorporating thrifted pieces into your wardrobe:
1. Can you wear it with 30% or more of the pieces your wardrobe?
2. Is it a well-made, quality item?
3. Does it have the “it” factor? Is it something that will be unique to you?
4. Does the style fit into your brand/wardrobe?
5. Does it accentuate your best features and fit you properly?
Hopefully, you will keep these in mind on your next trip to the thrift store. You never know what one-of-a-kind pieces you will find to add to your wardrobe!
