Staying motivated is something that every reseller struggles with at some point or another. In this business, there are periods of highs and lows and sometimes, it can be difficult to stay motivated through it all. Honestly, I struggle with it myself sometimes. I feel as though many resellers highlight the positives of reselling but don’t really talk about the difficult times and the times when you lose your motivation. Today, I want to share some ways to stay motivated as a reseller through all situations that may come your way.
Remember the Big Picture
When I first decided that I wanted to turn my love of reselling into a business, I created a detailed business plan which has become the foundation for my reselling journey. As part of that business plan, I drafted what my long-term goals for my business would hopefully be. Every so often, I will read through it and use it to remind myself of where I want to be and what I need to do now to get there. I keep it in a place where I have easy access to it so when I need a motivational boost, I can read through it and remember the big picture.
Don’t Compare Yourself to Others
Out of all of the tips that I am going to provide you with, this one is the MOST IMPORTANT!!! It is SO easy to get lost in the world of social media and start comparing yourself to other people. I know that I have done it at least once myself. There is so much more that goes on behind-the-scenes that we cannot take what we see at face value. What you need to remember is that not everyone is at the same point in their reselling journey as you and not everyone is in the same situation that you are in. Each person’s situation is different. Use others to motivate you to achieve your goals but please don’t compare yourself to others.
Focus on the Positives and Find Places for Improvement
The last 2 months have not been the greatest reselling months for me (if we are being honest). Instead of getting upset or discouraged when my sales aren’t great, I, instead, focus on what is going right and what I can do to improve my business. Personally, I love finding opportunities for growth and I believe that if you want your business to thrive, you need to do the same. As a business owner, you need to be open to change and be ready to make adjustments, if needed.
