During my weekly shopping trip to the Salvation Army, I scored a beautiful Diane Von Furstenberg silk floral dress. After the initial excitement wore off, I realized that the silk was thinning in one area and that I was going to have to do a silk fix. Fortunately, I had some Heat ‘N Bond on hand and was able to fix the spot within a few minutes.
What You Will Need: An Iron, A Thin Towel, Heat ‘N Bond for Thin Materials, Scissors
First, cut a piece of the Heat ‘N Bond to the desired size. Place on the desired area with the bonded surface facing the fabric.
Next, prepare to bond the surface by keeping a thin towel close by and setting an iron to the correct settings.
Once you have everything ready to go, place the towel over the surface and iron over the patch until it has bonded. Although the patch doesn’t completely fix the thinning, it will provide protection for the surface and slow the damage.
