I love sourcing leather goods, especially designer shoes and handbags. When I source these items, I can sometimes find them in pristine condition and other times, they need a little TLC. For today’s post, I wanted to share what product I use to clean leather goods that find and also provide you with some other tips on how to properly clean these items.
My favorite leather cleaner to use is Weiman Leather Condition and Cleaner. I purchased mine at TJ Maxx/HomeGoods for $4.99 each. It comes in a spray bottle and is super easy to use. I also like that it doesn’t have any weird or distinctive smells to it. Using the product is very simple; all you have to do is spray it on a rag or towel and then rub it on the item that you are looking to clean. I would suggest spraying it onto a towel first because spraying on the item directly may discolor the item.
After rubbing the cleaner on the item, it should be as good as new! I would suggest rubbing the item with a soft cloth lightly to ensure that you don’t damage it. The spray dries pretty instantly so that is helpful if you are planning on listing quickly.
Here are Some Additional Tips for Cleaning Leather Goods:
*Wipe with the grain*
*When removing ink stains, clean them right away to ensure that they can be removed*
*Keep your bag stuffed when you are not using it to maintain its’ shape*
*NEVER use water on grease stains*
*Always apply a test spot before using any cleaners on it*
