I am SO happy to be back with you all and blogging again in 2025. Over the past few months, I have been spending a LOT of time focusing on my reselling business and trying to navigate how to proceed with my business this upcoming year. As a result, I have spent quite a bit of time removed from both social media and my blog. Although it was only temporary, it felt like forever and I have been itching to get back to blogging and sharing my reselling journey with all of you. Today, I wanted to share with you my reselling plans for 2025 and give you a glimpse into the direction of my reselling business for this new year.
What Platforms Will I Be Selling On In 2025?
Poshmark– Poshmark is the reselling platform that I have been selling on the longest and makes up my largest income stream. This year, I will continue to maintain two reselling accounts on the app; One account is my main closet and the second is run by my husband, Eric.
Mercari- I’ve been selling on Mercari for a few years now. Although it does not perform as well for me as Poshmark, it does provide a steady income each month, especially with men’s items. This year, we will continue to maintain two reselling accounts on this platform.
Curtsy- Curtsy is a newer platform that I just started selling on this year. It does not generate a ton of sales for me but it does sync to my Poshmark closet so it requires very little work to maintain. As a result, I will continue to run one account on this app.
Vestaire Collective- Of all of the platforms that I sell on, this one is my least favorite. Although I have made some sales on Vestaire Collective, it is not a consistent income stream but I will continue to have it into 2025.
ThredUp- I will continue to utilize ThredUp for both liquidation and passive reselling income. It has been a great income stream for me over the past year.
Reselling Programs on Retail Sites- A few months ago, I started experimenting with reselling programs on various retail sites. So far, I have had some luck with these programs and have decided to continue to use them in 2025. Some of my favorites so far include: Ulla Johnson, Ba&sh, and Frank and Eileen.
eBay- This year, I am unsure as to where my eBay journey is going to lead me. At the moment, I have an active account with no items listed. Of all of the reselling platforms out there, eBay gives me the most hesitation. I am hoping to experiment with the platform more this year and try listing a few items to see what happens.
Am I Finally Niching Down?
This is something that I never thought that I would say but yes, I am niching down my reselling business. What does that mean exactly? While I am still open to selling all categories of items in my reselling business, I am going to be focusing my attention to certain categories of items. In my main closet, I will be focusing on dresses, outerwear, denim, purses, and shoes. In my men’s closet, I will be primarily be selling women/ men/ children athletic shoes and selective men’s shoes and apparel. After looking at my data over the past 4 years, it is clear that these categories consistently perform the best for me across all platforms. As I mentioned previously, if I find pieces that are not in these categories but are profitable and in-demand, I will still pick them up. I am at a point in my business now, where I am looking to scale back my inventory needs and focus on quality over quantity.
What Brands & Styles Will I Be Sourcing in 2025?
In 2025, I will be sourcing very differently than years past. Not only will I be even more selective in the categories that I am sourcing but I will also be very conscientious of the brands and styles that I am sourcing as well. In all honesty, I’ve become a lazy reseller over the past few years. As someone who has been reselling for over 10 years, it is very easy to become stuck in your ways. I wasn’t putting in the same amount of effort that I was when I first started reselling and over time it has allowed me to make some bad sourcing decisions. Finally, I’ve reached a point where I know that my old habits are not going to help my business grow. Over the past few weeks, I have been re-introducing better sourcing habits and retraining my brain to go through the motions of looking up comps on everything and familiarizing myself with new-to-me brands and styles. For the most part, I plan on sourcing mid-tier and luxury brands along with other miscellaneous brands that are in high demand and perform well in the reselling market.
My Overall Reselling Strategy For 2025
My reselling strategy for 2025 is going to be very different from year’s past. Although many of my day-to-day activities are going to remain the same, my overall strategy is going to look quite a bit different. I am truly looking to focus on quality over quantity and strive to sell less items but for much higher profit margins across all platforms. In additional to sourcing for items on my traditional reselling platforms, I am going to rely more heavily on platforms such as ThredUp and secondhand programs on retail sites to help provide me with a passive reselling income. Diversifying marketplaces is really going to be the key to success for me this year. As the year goes on, I will be re-evaluating my progress and make adjustments as necessary. I hope that you will follow me along on my reselling journey and I wish you a successful reselling year in 2025!
