Over the past few months, I have had many highs and lows in Poshmark sales. As time has passed, I have become more confident in my belief that Live Shows are impacting the algorithm in a way that doesn’t benefit traditional sellers. Since I am not a Live Show seller, I have had to step back and re-analyze my own data to see what I can do to try to drive more sales. Today, I wanted to share with you some patterns that I noticed in my own closet this past month and how I adjusted my routine to make more daily sales.
Observation #1: Most of My Sales and Offers Happen After 5 PM EST
Over the years, I have noticed many shifts in my data. For the majority of my reselling career, most of my sales have occurred at the end of the day. However, this past year, I noticed that I received more sales and offers earlier in the day; As a result, I started doing more of my daily reselling tasks earlier in the day. A few weeks back, I noticed a shift in when I was receiving the most Poshmark traction. Out of nowhere, I was receiving a large numbers of offers and sales in the afternoon and evenings again.
My Update:
As a result of this, I adjusted the time in which I conduct my business activities on Poshmark. I still maintain my typical morning Poshmark routine but list all of my new items at the end of the day. I’ve noticed that when I do this, I am much more likely to make a sale immediately after listing a new item.
Observation #2: I Don’t Need to Add New Items Daily to Make Daily Sales
Prior to this past month, I was consistently listing 5-10 new items daily to my closet. However, a few weeks ago, I acquired a ton of new inventory and I haven’t been able to keep up with listing it regularly. I decided that the best way to get it up quickly would be to start batching my listings a few times a week. Realistically, I have been able to get up between 20-30 new items on random days throughout the week. Once I started doing this, I noticed that I was making consistent daily sales even though I wasn’t listing daily.
My Update:
Since I am so behind on listing inventory, listing this way has become the most efficient way for me to get my inventory listed. As a result, I will continue to batch my listings on various days throughout the week until my listings are caught up. After that, I will re-evaluate my data and inventory and decide what makes the most sense at that point. [Note: Regardless of when I list, I do believe that consistent listing is something that the algorithm searches for; It doesn’t have to be consistent daily listing but listing in some sort of consistent fashion.]
Observation #3: Daily Trending Items Are Important for Daily Sales
I will be the first to say that when Poshmark started featuring trending items, I thought that it was pointless. BUT with everything Poshmark-related, Poshmark does not release features for the sake of releasing features; These features do serve a purpose when it comes to the algorithm. Earlier this month, I started tracking men’s and women’s trending items daily to see if there were any trends that I popped up in my data. Some interesting observations that I noticed were that (1) trends consistently repeated under different headings and (2) trending items were more likely to sell.
My Update:
As a result, I will continue to write down and track daily Poshmark trends. I actually have found this data to be helpful in a few different ways. Within each of the 13 daily trending items for both men’s and women’s items, you can see the exact search criteria and keywords that Poshmark is using to find these items. I find this information extremely helpful when listing new items as by following this template, it can be a lot easier to move items. Additionally, I like to use this information when sourcing for items as these items will have a higher likelihood of selling; This is especially true if you are also utilizing the same keywords and filters that Poshmark is using in their search criteria for these trending items.
