Is it just me or does anyone else find it sometimes difficult to put outfits together during the summer months? Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE fashion but on hot summer days, I sometimes struggle with it. During this time of the year, I live in rompers, dresses, and skirts because they are easy yet chic. However, my “day job” has me constantly on my feet and moving around so I cannot wear my go-to summer pieces when I please. When I am work, I am a slave to my shorts and denim. Just because I can’t wear what I please doesn’t mean that I can’t still look fashionable, right?
Fashion is my form of expression. I love that it allows people to see into my little world even if they never have the opportunity to experience it firsthand. When you wear what makes you feel your best, you can’t help but be happy and bright. However, for those of us with a “day job” uniform, it can be a struggle. I have nothing against work uniforms but when you have constant monotony, particularly in what you wear, misery does follow. I am telling you this firsthand. My “day job” uniform consists of a company issued shirt paired with whatever bottoms and shoes that I please. We do have rules and regulations regarding what we can and cannot wear but whenever there is an opportunity to express myself, I take full advantage. If that means wearing heels on a day when everyone else is wearing flip-flops, then so be it.
I am a true believer in that what you wear says a lot about you. It can give people insight into your personality, preferences, and pastimes. For today’s look, I decided to brighten things up a bit. I thought that it would be a good idea to mix in some fun colors with my usual black ensemble. I spotted this top at my local Plato’s Closet and loved its’ lightness especially during these hot summer months. I paired it with my new Jimmy Choo ‘Ramona’ bag (that I scored thrifting for $7), studded heels, and Paige denim jeans. This look is my idea of happy and bright. What does your look say about you?
