Can you guys tell that I love shoes? While shopping at the mall yesterday, I spotted these gorgeous embroidered booties at DSW. Honestly, I really wasn’t looking for another pair of boots because I just bought another pair a few days ago. However, I found these embroidered booties to be the perfect addition to my fall wardrobe. So I decided to take the plunge and buy them because they were just too beautiful to pass up. As far as the other boots go (as seen on my Instagram), I decided to list them in my Poshmark closet and find them a new, loving home. To be honest, they just weren’t all that practical with my lifestyle. So in today’s post, I want to share these gorgeous boots with you and explain why it is important to stay ahead of the trends as a reseller.
As a reseller, I can tell you that it is important to know what is trending at any given time. Personally, I don’t follow trends but instead invest in pieces that represent me and my brand, trendy or not. When looking at trends from the point-of-view of a reseller, my opinion differs. Knowing what is on-trend at the moment will help you increase your sells. Although there is no one formula for success in this business, there are some equations that you learn along the way that produce results. Here is one:
Investing in Trendy Pieces + Sharing with Other Poshers = Increase in Sales.
Well, this one seems pretty straightforward but is actually more complicated than it appears. Take a moment right now and make a list of the first 5 fashion trends that come to mind. Once you have your list, I want you to do a Google search for “Fashion Trends Fall 2017” and see what you find. Does your list (for the most part) match your search results. If yes, then you are right where you should be so keep up the good work. If not, then let’s explore this topic a little further.
I know that there are successful Poshers out there who are killing it when it comes to selling vintage goods. Vintage is not my cup of tea but I have a great respect for people who find and sell gorgeous vintage gems. Unfortunately, the majority of the Poshmark market is made up of individuals looking for on-trend items from the last few years or so. In order to appeal to the majority of the masses, you should have some on-trend pieces in your closet. If you don’t know what is trending at the moment, do a little research and find out. These pieces will appeal to a broader audience and your closet will start gaining momentum.
Now back to the equation that I discussed above. By investing in trendy pieces and sharing them with the Poshmark community, you will get an increase in sales. This simple equation is easily overlooked, especially when personal preferences get in the way. Just because you like it, doesn’t mean that it is going to sell well for you on Poshmark. Remember to continue learning along the way and you will discover what sells best for you and your audience. Keep in mind that you want the items in your closet to attract customers not deter them from it.
