Compared to my previous years as a full-time reseller, 2024 has been my most unpredictable year as a reseller, specifically on Poshmark. As someone who wants to succeed long-term in the reselling space, I understand that when things don’t go as planned, you need to adjust your business to best navigate these challenges. Today, I wanted to share with you some easy Poshmark changes that I have implemented throughout 2024 to maximize my Poshmark sales and maintain a strong business in this new era of reselling.
Poshmark Promoted Closets
I’ll be honest with you- when Poshmark first released Promoted Closets, I had no plans to utilize it beyond the free trial. (You can read more about my initial experience with it HERE.) BUT the more that I did my research and calculated the pros and cons of using it on a weekly basis, the more that I decided that it would worth trying again. I thought that would be fair to try it out for a month to see if it was truly worth paying the extra money for. After paying $20 a week for four weeks, it did prove to be worth the additional cost. The items that I was selling through the use of Promoted Closets were items that I was unable to move on my own for months. Having these items sell for close to my asking price without having to liquidate them was worth it for me; I would rather make a decent profit on these items then break even or take a loss if I can. Additionally, the sales that I made through Promoted Closets not only paid for the use of this service but also provided me with good profit margins. Although this service might not be beneficial for every reseller, it has proven to be worth investing in for my business.
Adding Keywords to Listings
Prior to 2024, I never added a ton of extra keywords to any of my listings across reselling platforms. Usually, I would only add in the necessary required information to my listings and then move on. After watching my Poshmark sales fluctuate more than I had experienced in previous years, I decided to experiment with adding extra keywords to my listings. I first started to add keywords into new listings and then have been working on adding them into my older listings over the past few months. Immediately, I noticed that items with additional keywords were receiving more likes and my sales picked up almost overnight. I believe that adding the extra relevant keywords are allowing my items to appear in more search results than they were previously. As a result, more buyers are seeing my items which is increasing the likelihood that these items will sell. [Note: Poshmark recently announced that they are doing random testing on the use of keyword matching in search results. This testing is affecting different accounts at different times and may be affecting how our items are appearing in search results.]
Recheck Comps on Everything
This is something that I believe is truly overlooked by many resellers (myself included) but is necessary for making sales on reselling platforms: resellers need to re-run comps on their items regularly. The value of our items changes daily and it is our job as resellers to make sure that our items are always priced at market value. As someone who has a larger closet and manages multiple reselling accounts, I know how difficult it can be to keep up with all of my items. However, just because I maintain a larger reselling business doesn’t mean that I cannot spend a few minutes each day updating my listings to maximize sales success. Over the past few months, I have been slowly updating both my Poshmark and Mercari to do just that. Not only have I been adding relevant keywords to my listings but I have also been rechecking comps on all of my items to ensure that they are priced at market value. I will admit that this has been a lengthy process but I know that it is allowing me to generate more sales for my business.
