As a full-time reseller, I go thrift shopping at least twice per week (but depending on the week, it may be more). Thrifting in Tampa is very different than thrifting in New York. Since Tampa Bay covers such a large area, there are a TON of thrift stores within 30 minutes to an hour of where I live. Additionally, the area caters to various socioeconomic groups, which as a result, allows for many high-quality items to be donated to thrift stores across the bay area. Generally speaking, thrift store prices are extremely reasonable and on average range from $1 to $10 per item (depending on what it is and whether or not it is a “boutique” item). Since I usually share my thrift finds on Instagram and am unable to do so at this time, I thought that I would share some of this week’s finds in today’s blog post.
My Thrift Finds:
Everything that I purchased will be available in my Poshmark and Mercari closets! I will link them at the bottom of the post!
Purchased: Anthropologie Blue and White Stripe Bell Sleeve Blouse
Anthropologie pieces can be a hit-or-miss for many resellers. Before I pick up any Anthropologie pieces, I like to research comps to see what items are oversaturated and which ones are worth picking up. This top was a great price, on trend, and perfect for spring which is why I picked it up.
Passed: Vineyard Vines Tee
Vineyard Vines is a brand that I am very picky with. Typically, I only try to pick up recent pieces. Although this tee was cute and reasonably priced, it was from 2017 and a little too old for my liking.
Passed: Mini Cooper Tee
I passed on this tee due to comps. On Poshmark, this tee sold consistently between $8-$10 which would not provide enough of a profit to make it worth the buy.
Passed: Parrot Swimsuit
Although this swimsuit is adorable, I passed on it due to wash wear. The back of the swimsuit had quite a bit of pilling and was not worth the $7.98 that it was priced at.
Purchased: White House Black Market Floral Blouse
Typically, I like to avoid purchasing WHBM items but something about this top really spoke to me. I really liked the print, it was a recent design, and was a great reselling size (size 12).
Fun Fact: Clothing pieces that are a size 10 or higher are great for resale!
Purchased: Lilly Pulitzer Kids’ Dress
I love picking up Lilly Pulitzer children’s items, especially dresses. I actually found this dress in the women’s section and knew that I needed to pick it up. It is a size 6x-7 which is a great size for children’s dresses. It was marked up as a “boutique” piece but I knew that it would be a great piece to add to my closet.
Purchased: Elizabeth and James Beaded White Blouse
This piece was purchased specifically for ThredUp. Elizabeth and James is a brand that has historically sold very well for me on ThredUp. For only $5, I thought that it would be a great piece to send off to them.
Here is a look at everything that I picked up on my thrift trip!
I paid a total of $96 for everything that you see pictured above.
