I will be the first to say that I have a love/hate relationship with ThredUP. Over the years, I have purchased some great items from ThredUP but every once in a while, I end up with an item that is a total dud. Today, I wanted to share with you my experience with shopping on ThredUP, specifically during the quarantine.
Sourcing on ThredUP during the quarantine has been fairly easy. Despite delays in shipping on many other platforms, ThredUP has been remained pretty quick with their ship times. I think that you really need to know what you are looking for and quick to buy it in order to be successful on the site during this time of high competition. Items are selling out very quickly so if you see something, you need to add it to your cart as soon as you can or else another seller might get it.
Searching for items on the site can be pretty easy as items are usually sorted by brand and/or condition. However, there are other hidden ways of finding inventory. One is by searching items by “Assorted Brands.” These items are usually cheaper than the branded ones and are usually items that ThredUP cannot identify the brand for.
Overall, you can find many one-of-a-kind items on the site if you are patient, do your homework, and know what you are looking for. I would suggest incorporating online resale sites into your sourcing model and hopefully, that will lead to more sales.
