Whether you are an experienced reseller or someone who is new to the reselling world, this post is for you! I remember when I first started reselling and not really knowing what I would or wouldn’t need as a new business owner. Today, I put together a list of some of my favorite things and items that every reseller should buy.
1. Business Cards
One of my best investments as a reseller is my business card. My business card is something that I have a lot of pride in as I designed it myself. I personalized my business cards by creating double-sided vertical cards with rounded edges, which is different from the typical one. Before I send out my order, I will personally package each one with care and include a business card with each order. My Poshmark customers are very kind and loyal to me and my brand so why not take the extra time to thank them?!
My business cards are from Vistaprint and if you use code STANDOUT, you can get a discount on business cards!

2. Double Garment Rack
The next item that I want to talk about is my double garment rack. I now have two of these as this is how I store the majority of my inventory. I know that as my inventory grows, I will need to invest in more of them but I would definitely recommend at least starting out with one. Preferably a single rack when just starting out. Keep in mind, if you don’t want to hang your items, you can always store them in boxes (more on that below).
These racks are from Bed Bath and Beyond- Here are the links to the Single Rack and Double Rack (And you use the 20% off coupon on them!!)
3. Velvet Hangers
Velvet hangers are something that I recommend everybody have in both their personal and Poshmark closets. You can fit SO much more stuff in your closets with velvet hangers compared to the cheap plastic ones. Yes, velvet hangers tend to be a little bit more expensive but if you are like me and need to make the most out of a small closet, then these are for you! Fun Fact is that I actually use black ones for my personal closet and ivory ones for my Poshmark closet. (I’m weird like that.)
All of my hangers come from TJ Maxx/HomeGoods/Marshalls but you can purchase some HERE.
4. Plastic Totes
One alternative to hanging your items is to store them in totes. Personally, I don’t really like this method because I prefer my items to not trapped in boxes. I like to see my inventory and I feel like if my items are in boxes, I will forget what items I have. The only items that I store in boxes are shoes, bottoms, and jackets. Everything else is hung on a hanger.
I prefer to use THESE boxes from Target.
5. Desk Accessories
As far as desk accessories go, I would definitely say to make sure that you have the basics: scissors, glue, a stapler, notebooks, pens, etc. Anything beyond that is extra and not necessarily a necessity. If you are anything like me and like to jazz up your desk, check out this Rose Gold set that I love HERE.
6. USPS Priority Boxes
USPS priority boxes are a MUST have for a reseller. Why would you go to the store and buy boxes when the USPS will send them to you for free?! Personally, I have 3 different sizes that I keep on hand at all times and I always order in bundle of 25 (especially with how many boxes I send out each week). Be sure that you these free boxes whenever you ship out your items and you can order them HERE.
7. Shoe Rack
Another item that I strongly recommend on investing in is a shoe rack. I sell a LOT of shoes on Poshmark and most of the time I have no place to store all of them. I have one of these racks now and store everything else is bins. However, I know that moving forward, I am probably going to have to invest in more of these. Mine is from Walmart and you can buy it HERE.
8. A Background for Your Photos
This one is completely up to you but I would recommend using a textured background for your photos. It allows them to appear more professional which aides in the selling process. I can tell you from experience that using a textured background in my photos has helped with sales. Mine is actually a blanket that I picked up from HomeGoods, but you can also use a sheet, rug, photo backdrop, wallpaper, etc. Use whatever works best with your closet’s aesthetic.
9. Packaging Tape
Invest is a LOT of packaging tape because you will surely need it. Personally, I stock up on it in bulk from BJ’s but if you don’t have a BJ’s near you, check out Sam’s Club or Cosco.
