In my opinion, being a reseller is one of the hardest jobs out there, whether you do it part-time or full-time. There is a constant cycle of highs and lows and things aren’t always consistent. Like any business, you need to constantly adjust your business model in order to make consistent sales and keep up with your competition. As someone who works a full-time job, in addition to selling on Poshmark, I am constantly struggling to balance my time, energy, and resources evenly. And some days, it can be very challenging to stay motivated, especially after a long day of work. Today, I wanted to open up and share 5 ways to stay motivated as a reseller on Poshmark, especially when all you want to do is crash and watch Netflix.
1. Set Realistic Goals
First and foremost, set realistic goals for yourself and your business. If you need to write this things down, do it! Find an accountability partner if you must. Do whatever you need to do to ensure that you will meet your goals. I know that life can definitely get in the way of things but the best first step to take, is to set goals for yourself and try to stick to them. I would recommend setting up daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly goals at the absolute minimum. In addition, have an accountability partner who checks in on you regularly to make sure that you are working towards accomplishing those goals.
2. Figure Out What Is and Isn’t Working For You
This one is a little more vague but the point that I’m trying to get at is that like everything in life, running a business involves a LOT of trial-and-error. You are going to have both successes and failures and that’s 1000% okay. Trust me, I have made my fair share of mistakes and I too, am still learning what works best for me and my business. Once you figure out what is and isn’t working for you, you can tailor your activities accordingly. You can use the limited amount of time that you have to both be more productive and efficient.
3. Feeling Burned Out?? TAKE A BREAK!!!!
I will be the first to tell you that sometimes, you just need to take a break from Poshmark. Whether it be a day or a week, it doesn’t matter. What does matter is that you take some time to re-group, do something that makes you happy, and then come back to it once you have a clear mind. If you do this every once in a while, it will help you to have clarity and will increase your productivity once you revisit it.
4. Reflect on Why You are Selling in the First Place
Why did you decide to be a reseller in the first place? Was it to make extra money for your family? Was it to get rid of clothes that you don’t wear anymore? Or maybe was it because you hate your 9-5 job and you want to do something that gives you more freedom to do what you enjoy? Whatever the reason is, use that to fuel your fire. Constantly remind yourself as to why you became a reseller in the first place and where you want to eventually end up. Reflecting on the core of this will help you to stay motivated in the long run.
5. Treat it Like a Job
Reselling is a mindset, which sounds kind of weird but is true. How you view it mentally impacts how it is executed in real-life. If you treat reselling like a hobby, then you are more likely to be more lax about it and not give it all that it needs to thrive. However, if you treat reselling like a job, you are likely to have a different mindset towards it. You are more apt to devoting more time and energy to it. At the end of the day, it comes down to your intent and your intent will then drive your actions.
