Mixing and matching textures can be a scary task for many fashion lovers out there. All it takes is one wrong move to go from very chic to “Is she crazy?”But fashion friends, do not fear for I will give you tips on how to mix and match textures correctly.
So you want to exit your comfort zone and enter the world of texture mixing? First of all, congratulations on being brave enough to try something new. I know how hard it is to venture out of your comfort zone and doing so takes some serious guts. I know that you are probably a little nervous about this but I promise that you have nothing to worry about. Just follow my tips and you will be conquering the fashion world in no time!
Tip #1- Stick to the Same Color Family
When mixing textures, you really want to keep your pieces within the same color family. Wearing pieces with too many textures, patterns, and colors can completely ruin an outfit when done incorrectly. To really frame your statement piece, just keep everything else simple. It will appear as chic to outsiders and not come off as “trying to hard.”
Tip #2- If You Like It, Wear It
This tip applies to any article of clothing that you wear. If a certain piece of clothing fits you properly and makes you feel great, wear it. Remember that fashion is a form of self-expression so why not show the world who you are. Besides, life is too short to wear boring clothes, right?
Tip #3- Beginners Should Stick to Mixing a Piece or Two
Whenever starting something new, it always a good idea to take it slow. Same goes for mixing and matching textures. Perhaps, try taking things slow and wear maybe one statement piece at first. After becoming more comfortable with it, try mixing and matching two pieces. Sooner than later, you will be a pro at this whole mixing and matching textures thing.
Good luck and let me know if you have any questions!
